November 4, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Celebrate Texas trees with programs for all ages including tree climbing, a historic tree sale, guided tree hikes and a very cool presentation on Comanche marker trees.

Tree Climbing, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Climb high into the treetops using harnesses, ropes and helmets, just like the arborists at the Wildflower Center. See the world from a bird’s eye view and explore a tree canopy among the branches. Trained experts will provide instruction and equipment. Children (ages 7+) and adults are welcome to climb.
No registration required; first-come, first-climbing!

Historic Tree Sale, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Bring a living piece of Texas history into your own landscape. The Wildflower Center has grown saplings from the acorns of historic native trees collected in the spirit of preserving the great state’s natural and cultural heritage. Our arborists and nursery manager will be available to answer questions and give planting advice.

Tree Tours, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. & 3 p.m.
Tree Tours, 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. & 3 p.m.
Join in for a guided walk through the Texas Arboretum. Hear stories of historical oaks as you circle the Hall of Texas Heroes. Learn about the native trees of the state, how to properly plant them, and strategies for stopping the spread of oak wilt. After the walk, relax on the swings beneath the canopies of the Cathedral Oaks. The Arboretum Trail is approximately one mile and is wheelchair accessible.
Space is limited; register for walks here (free with admission): https://www.wildflower.org/event/texas-arbor-day

Comanche Marker Trees Talk, 1 – 2 p.m.
A genuine marker tree is a rare find — only six of these natural and cultural treasures have been officially documented in Texas and recognized by the Comanche Nation. Author and Arborist Steve Houser will talk about the history and significance of these Texas trees. Books will be available for purchase, and a signing will follow the presentation.
Space is limited; register for presentation here (free with admission): https://www.wildflower.org/event/texas-arbor-day

All Texas Arbor Day activities are free with garden admission. Admission is always free for members!
